Dear Friends and Family,
I wanted to let you all know that Yankton and I are moving!! I have been offered a job with a company in New Mexico and I start on June 18, 2012. The company is a European company headquartered in the UK. It was just a fantastic opportunity for my career and I decided to go for it. Yankton was very supportive. He plans on finishing up pharmacy school in San Antonio and then trying to get his final rotations out in West Texas / Southern New Mexico. That basically means we will be traveling back and forth a lot over the next two years.
The only one against this idea was Nero. He does not like change and he likes both Yankton and I to be at home with him. We plan on sharing custody!! Nero will get to travel a lot as well for the next two years.
We will only be three hours from Riudoso, New Mexico so if anyone wants to go skiing etc. - let us know.
We plan on selling our house here in San Antonio this summer. Hopefully the move will go smoothly. My new company has a moving service that they use. It sounds like they try to make the moving process as simple as possible. We are going to try to down-size / sell some extra stuff just so that we do not have to be moving more than we need.
I will try to do a better job updating the blog!! Once we start the moving process, I will take pictures and share.

General Update / Good News
It has been a long time since I have written an update – so I thought it was about time that I did that. Things are pretty status quo for Yankton and I.
It is still just me, Yankton and Nero. We have had Nero for almost two years now. He is such a loving, happy and alert dog. He has discovered that his favorite hobby is patrolling the windows in the living room/dining room for squirrels, birds, cats, and bicyclists that may be in our yard, cul-de-sac, or any of the neighbor’s yards that are in his line of sight. He gets especially grumpy about bicyclists – who knows why?? It always amuses me that a four-pound fuzz-ball can display such personality.
Yankton is finishing up his two years of pre-pharmacy courses. He has been diligently studying and going to classes such as Organic Chemistry 1 & 2, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology 1&2, Microbiology, Calculus etc. All classes that I went out of my way to avoid!! Thankfully it has all paid off as he has been accepted to the University of the Incarnate Word Pharmacy School and will be starting his REAL pharmacy classes in the fall of 2011. Graduation date: May 2015 – mark your calendars now.
I am very proud of Yankton for doing something so radical as changing careers when he realized he was not happy. I think changing gears professionally is one of the hardest things you can do and there are not many people who can pull it off successfully. Of course, pharmacy school is not going to be easy and he has a tough four years ahead of him. He has already warned me that he is going to have to spend A LOT of time at school going to classes basically all day and then working with his study groups at night.
I am still with the same company. It will be 10 years in July that I have been here. In January I was promoted to Senior Manager of HR and works keeps me very busy. Being in the construction / construction materials industry, I very much want to see more of an economic rebound. The economy will not truly be better until we see the construction industry starting to revive.
I am also staying busy decorating the house. We moved in almost four years ago and I only started decorating about 3 months ago. I have managed to FINALLY decide what I want to do in the upstairs bedrooms. I sorta have an idea of what to do everywhere else. I am planning on doing everything one room at a time. That way I will not be living in chaos in every room in the house.
For those not interested in decorating, you can skip this next paragraphs.
In the front room upstairs (windows face east), I am going to do a dark charcoal grey on the walls. There will be a light grey sheer curtain behind a set of dark grey velvet curtains on the two windows. The furniture will be a rich cherry wood with black and silver accent pieces throughout the room. I am also putting all of our photo albums in this room on a tall narrow bookcase in the corner.
The back upstairs bedroom is the darker of the two rooms. I am going to do a natural blue color on the wall (think light blue, but not sky blue) and white trim on the doors and closets. The furniture will be all white in the room along with a modern grommet top white curtains and white comforter. The only other blue will be from the sheet set.
Other than decorating inside, we are not doing a whole lot to the house. Outside we are happy that the blackberry bush we planted our first year is finally producing berries. The poor thing started as a little sprig and then kept getting weed-whacked by the lawn guy. It finally had a chance to grow and is turning into a bush!
Yankton and I are thinking about doing dance lessons again over the summer. I want to switch to ballroom dancing I and II, but I think he prefers the C&W style. We will see…
Overall, things are good for us. It is kinda boring and status quo, but maybe that is a good thing!

Nero's Halloween
We seem to have started a tradition of taking pictures of Nero every Halloween. Why Halloween you ask? I have no idea! I think I am just impressed with Yankton's pumpkin carving ability and want to take pictures of that too.

Sea World
Yankton and I took Wendy Lynn to Sea World this past Saturday. She just moved from Washington State back to Texas, so we thought we would try and give her parents a little bit of break and spend some time with Wendy. I think Yankton and I did a pretty darn good job with her considering we have no experience with 3 year old's.
Of course, it probably helped that we pretty much never said "no" to her on anything. Throughout the day, she ate popcorn, Doritos, Cheetos, a Popsicle, root beer, sierra mist, and cotton candy. We did buy her a turkey sandwich on a wheat roll, so we at least TRIED to feed her nutritious food.
I did try to take pictures, but did not get a whole lot of shots. Here is Wendy and Yankton standing in line for the Shamu Express Roller Coaster. The minimum height requirement was 38 inches and Wendy was 38 and a half. Yankton said she was scared at first but wanted to go around again after it was over. She also kept her sunglasses on for most of the day. She kept very good track of them and made Yankton put them in his pocket when she didn't want them on.
Here we are waiting for the Ski Acrobat show to start. She ate almost the entire bag of popcorn by herself.

Reveille VIII
Yankton currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the San Antonio A&M Club. They do different scholarship fundraising events throughout the year - one of the biggest events is Coach's Night. This year, Reveille VIII came to Coach's Night!! The Former Students Association asked the Board if anyone would be willing to let Reveille and her handler spend the night after the Coach's Night was over. So, we volunteered!
Here are a few pics of Reveille's night at our house.

When Reveille came in the house, it got a little crazy trying to take pictures. Nero got a Napoleon complex and wouldn't stop barking at Rev. Rev wouldn't stop moving at all! Her handler, Cody Guffey, said she liked to explore and investigate new places. Yankton said she was more lively and energetic at our house than she was at the Coach's Night event. Needless to say, taking pictures got a whole lot more difficult.
